Intralase Blade Free LASIK in Racine and Kenosha Wisconsin
1. What is Intralase?
Intralase is a femtosecond laser that allows Dr. Allen to create a corneal flap without the use of a metal blade. Millions of small bubbles are placed at a very precise level to gently create a corneal flap.
2. Why select Dr. Allen as my IntraLASIK surgeon?
Dr. Allen is Racine and Kenosha’s most experienced LASIK surgeon, having performed over 24,000 procedures since 1994. If you’re seeking personalized care with experience you can trust, Dr. Allen is your clear choice for IntraLASIK in Racine and Kenosha.
3. How does Intralase work?
The Intralase creates a pattern of overlapping precise spaces below the corneal surface. The tissue is divided without releasing heat or damaging adjacent tissue.
4. Why select IntraLASIK over standard LASIK with a microkeratome?
While LASIK with a microkeratome is a safe procedure, flap complications do occur. Many surgeons feel that the Intralase method reduces the incidence of these already rare complications – thus providing an even safer procedure. Many surgeons feel that the added precision of the Intralase provides more predictable results.
5. Will I get a better result with Intralase?
No one can guarantee an individual patients result. However a number of clinical trials did show a greater percentage of patients obtaining 20/20 vision with Intralase.
6. What will I feel during my procedure?
All LASIK procedures require the use of a suction ring to immobilize the eye during flap creation. The IntraLASIK suction ring raises the eye pressure to a lesser degree than the standard suction ring. You will feel pressure but usually not discomfort. It is normal for the vision to dim while the suction ring is in place. Upon its removal, your vision will return to normal.
The Visx Star 4 excimer laser treatment will usually last less than one minute. A three dimensional eye tracker optimizes your custom LASIK result. You will simply stare at a flashing red light. If you look away, the tracker will stop your treatment until fixations is again achieved.
Your flap will be repositioned and dried into position. Your procedure is now complete.
7. What will I experience post-operatively?
Your vision will be blurred the day of your procedure. Foreign body sensation and mild discomfort is normal for the first four to five ours after your procedure. We want you to go directly home and sleep for four to six hours, so you minimize any discomfort. Upon waking, most patients are comfortable.
Vision is markedly improved by the next day. Most normal activities can be resumed. However be careful not to rub your eyes!
8. How do I find out if I’m a candidate for IntraLASIK?
